Classic Mini 1951 - 1960<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-55d4e8fb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"55d4e8fb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>En 1952, con la fusi\u00f3n de Morris y Austin Motor, se crea la empresa\u00a0<strong>British Motor Corporation<\/strong>\u00a0(BMC). Aunque en su plantilla figura el nombre de Issigonis, \u00e9l decide desvincularse de la nueva organizaci\u00f3n que parece no conceder rienda suelta a su esp\u00edritu creativo. Pasa entonces a Alvis, donde trabaja en el desarrollo de una berlina de lujo. El proyecto fracasa por falta de recursos econ\u00f3micos, y s\u00f3lo tres a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s regresa a BMC en calidad de subdirector t\u00e9cnico de la planta de Austin en la localidad de Longbridge. Su reto entonces es concebir tres nuevas series destinadas a los segmentos peque\u00f1o, mediano y de lujo. Es nombrado director t\u00e9cnico y miembro de la junta directiva de Austin Motor Company en 1961, y, dos a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde, ocupa estos mismos cargos en la BMC. En 1967 es nombrado miembro de la Royal Society, la asociaci\u00f3n de investigaci\u00f3n brit\u00e1nica m\u00e1s respetada. Finalmente, la reina de Inglaterra le concede el t\u00edtulo de caballero dos a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde.La d\u00e9cada de los &#8217;60 tambi\u00e9n asiste al crecimiento de la familia Mini: en 1961 llega al mercado la camioneta Mini Pick-Up, el coche de carga m\u00e1s peque\u00f1o de cuantos se conocen hasta entonces; medio a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s le siguen dos variantes de car\u00e1cter m\u00e1s noble, el Wolseley Hornet y el Riley Elf. Sin embargo, es con la llegada del Cooper cuando se afianza definitivamente la leyenda del classic Mini. La versi\u00f3n deportiva es un encargo de John Cooper: su intenci\u00f3n es fabricar un\u00a0<strong>peque\u00f1o GT sobre la base del classic Mini, con una potencia de 55 CV y una cilindrada de 997 cc<\/strong>. El modelo tiene tanta aceptaci\u00f3n que a Cooper e Issignonis no les queda otro remedio que lanzar uno a\u00fan m\u00e1s potente. De esta forma llega, en 1963, el Mini Cooper S, con 70 CV y sistema de servofreno.En 1964, BMC presenta una variante m\u00e1s del classic Mini: el Moke, un coche sin techo y de cuatro plazas. A mediados de la d\u00e9cada, el classic Mini n\u00famero un mill\u00f3n sale de las l\u00edneas de producci\u00f3n. No contenta con todo esto y sin haber cumplido a\u00fan siete a\u00f1os en el mercado, BMC decide que es hora de renovar el Mini. Se monta entonces un motor m\u00e1s potente (38 CV) y\u00a0<strong>se agrega el modelo Clubman<\/strong>, ligeramente m\u00e1s grande y con una parte delantera de dise\u00f1o algo diferente. Al mismo tiempo cesa la producci\u00f3n del Mini Cooper, que es sustituido por el buque insignia de la serie Clubman, con un propulsor de 59 CV y bautizado con el nombre de Mini 175 GT.Antes de que finalice el decenio aparece, por fin, el primer emblema Mini. Se cumplen diez a\u00f1os del lanzamiento del primer modelo cuando las identidades de\u00a0<strong>los gemelos Austin Mini y Morris Mini-Minor se convierten en una sola, para pasar a la historia como \u00abMini\u00bb<\/strong>. En ese mismo momento, la empresa matriz cambia de nombre para convertirse en British Leyland Motor Company. En 1972, trece a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de su lanzamiento, BMC ha vendido tres millones de unidades de este modelo, considerado ya como un cl\u00e1sico.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4a9de2df elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4a9de2df\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Menos modelos, pero el mismo \u00e9xito 1981 - 1990<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3efd2c5f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3efd2c5f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Entre los a\u00f1os 1980 y 1983 dejan de construirse las versiones Clubman, Estate y Van<\/strong>. \u00danicamente queda el classic Mini con motor de 1.000 cc y 40 CV. Las normas de gases de escape, cada vez m\u00e1s estrictas, ponen fin a la fabricaci\u00f3n del motor de 1.000 cc con carburador en\u00a0<strong>1992<\/strong>: a partir de este momento, todos<strong>\u00a0los modelos montan \u00fanicamente el propulsor de inyecci\u00f3n de 1.275 cc<\/strong>.En 1993 se presenta la versi\u00f3n descapotable tal y como hab\u00eda sido desarrollada y vendida en Alemania unos a\u00f1os antes. Finalmente, la fabricaci\u00f3n del classic Mini cesa de forma oficial en el a\u00f1o 2000.<\/p><p>El \u00faltimo classic Mini, el n\u00famero 5.300.000, se fabrica en el a\u00f1o 2000. Sin embargo, la historia de este mito de origen ingl\u00e9s no ha concluido. Despu\u00e9s de 41 a\u00f1os, el fabricante BMW escribe un nuevo cap\u00edtulo en\u00a0<strong>2001<\/strong>\u00a0con el lanzamiento de los modelos\u00a0<strong>Mini One y Mini Cooper<\/strong>.
